This week’s Success Series interview is with Zeke, an ex-constructor, family-motivated traveller, and powerhouse leader within the Breakaway Movement community.
Zeke and his partner Amanda, were both able to quit their jobs in November 2019 and have since been travelling full-time and spending their time volunteering at non-profit humanitarian organisations during the COVID period. Safe to say they’re living the life of their dreams!
In this interview, Zeke shares why you should ‘just do it’ so you don’t go through life thinking “what if…”, and gives us an insight into what skills you need in order to achieve greatness and succeed within the online space.
So, if you want to learn Zeke’s secrets and advice in how to build and run a successful online marketing business, please read on…
FIRSTLY, WHO ARE YOU AND WHAT DO YOU DO?
My name is Zeke Conner, I'm 24 years old, married, and a full-time distributor of Kangen.
A couple of years ago I found myself working within the construction industry. I didn’t enjoy it entirely but just decided to settle with it because I felt it gave me valuable skills. A few months into my work, my boss laid me off for 3 weeks because there wasn’t enough work at the time and he didn't need me. I went into a dark place during those 3 weeks. My pride was shot, I felt like a lousy provider for my family, and just felt lost.
But during that time, the entrepreneurial side of me was birthed. I made up my mind during this time that I could no longer depend on someone else to provide my family’s income and support. I literally witnessed how all our dreams and goals can come to a halt by depending on someone else. While being out of work, I would spend a lot of my time at the beach. And one day, while sipping a smoothie in my beach chair, I came across an Instagram post of Brooklynn Bosworth sharing how she was able to travel and make a full-time, sustainable income online.
I reached out straight away, saw all the amazing opportunities this business opportunity offered, and I was sold. Fast forward to today, my partner and I have quit our jobs and are now running a success online marketing business together.
WHAT IS YOUR WHY? (WHY DO YOU DO WHAT YOU DO?)
I do what I do because I believe in leaving a legacy. That this life is more than just for ourselves.
I do it for my family and for the generations to come after me. I want my ceiling to be their floor.
We also desire time and financial freedom. But mostly, freedom of time. You can always make more money but you can't create more time. Having the freedom to spend time adventuring through this life, whenever I want with my friends and family, is one of my greatest desires.
WHAT DOES A TYPICAL DAY LOOK LIKE FOR YOU?
I start off every day with a cup of coffee, talking to God, and a book of some sort to get educated on a topic of interest. I am constantly in a state of growth and trying to better myself. I am lover of the ocean. So pretty much every day you can find me surfing at some point.
I also dedicate a couple of hours a day to work stuff. It looks different every day though. Usually I'm responding back to messages and team members, creating new social media posts, and/or working on a new ad.
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE ONLINE MARKETING?
I chose online marketing mainly for the location freedom and the money that it can provide.
Before beginning this business, I was bound to a single location with a cap above my head as to how much money I could make. I hated it! I hated the fact that someone else had control of my income.
I loved traveling already, and this work has helped fuel that passion even more. I want to travel, experience life with my wife and bring my work with me, hence working online was my outlet.
Forever grateful for this opportunity! It has only been a little over a year since I started and my life has drastically changed for the good. The sky really is the limit now!
IF YOU HAD ONE PIECE OF ADVICE TO GIVE TO SOMEONE WHO WAS INTERESTED IN STARTING UP, WHAT WOULD IT BE?
Just send it! Take the risk. Especially if you are young.
This is a proven business plan that works. The benefits of this opportunity are endless! And if for some reason it doesn't work out for you (which, by the way, would only happen if you give up), you have tonnes of time to figure things out and pursue a different path if you choose.
You have nothing to lose. Just don't go through life living with the "what if..."!
WHAT HAS ONLINE MARKETING ALLOWED YOU TO DO?
Online marketing has allowed us to be location free. Meaning we can work from wherever there is wifi, without having to be tied down to one destination.
This past November, we were finally able to quit our jobs. We've since traveled to Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Puerto Rico, road tripped across the country... and to really put into perspective, my wife and I were able to work full-time as volunteers at our favourite non-profit humanitarian organisation in California (Surfing The Nations) during COVID.
Online marketing has allowed us to not just live the life of our dreams, but also to give back to communities during times of need. And that is what truly matters!

HOW DO YOU HANDLE ADVERSITY AND DOUBT?
I run towards adversity. Adversity is an opportunity to grow or tear yourself down. Nothing pleases me more than overcoming adversity and coming out better.
I think doubt is another word for fear. It's only natural and is okay to be a little skeptical of some things. It's how we are wired to protect ourselves. But at the same time it can keep us from becoming great. Eventually you just have to push doubt aside, trust the opportunity, and jump!
WHAT WOULD YOU SAY ARE THE TOP 3 SKILLS YOU NEED TO BECOME SUCCESSFUL?
1. Consistency - If you want success, you can't give up. When you are doing well, you can't just cruise along or your momentum will stop. When you are faced with adversity, you still must press forward just as hard.
2. Confidence - It's all in your head. Mindset is SO key. If you don't have confidence in yourself and your job, then who would want to be a part of what you're doing? People can "sense" if you have faith in what you are doing. Be real and authentic and carry yourself with confidence and character.
3. Remain a learner - The most successful people never stop learning and growing themselves.
WHAT IS ONE PIECE OF ADVICE YOU WOULD GIVE TO YOUR YOUNGER SELF?
Wow... I have so much to tell my younger self, haha. The one big piece of advice would be to only take advice from those that have achieved what you want to achieve. Keep a narrow focus on what you want and go for it, even if it doesn't make sense to others.
WHAT WAS THE LAST GIFT YOU GAVE TO SOMEONE?
It was my wife, Amanda's, 30th Birthday recently, and I wanted to make it super special. So I Airbnb’d a sailboat for 3 days and we went sailing. As a cherry on top, I gifted her the new iPad Pro. She has been wanting her own computer for a while and as a plus, it would be beneficial for our business. So it was a win-win!
IF YOU WERE TO WRITE A BOOK ABOUT YOURSELF, WHAT WOULD YOU NAME IT?
Either "Finding Success Outside Of Society's Plan", because I want to get people to start thinking outside the box. It's okay not to always do what the world says and what "everyone else is doing". Life's too short to be living someone else's dream!
Or "Swimming Against The Current", because I'm a surfer and I like water analogies! Haha. The life I live is so opposite of my family’s. Don't get me wrong, I love my family and where I come from, but I also feel very blessed that I chose to live differently... a life full of adventure! It's okay to breakaway from "the normal" and still have healthy family relationships. In this book, I would reference a lot of surfer / ocean terms too.
