4 FAQ's About Kangen Water: the Health

Return to Latest Posts

Are you hearing about Kangen water for the very first time? Not sure what it is and why it’s even worth it? I get it. I had no idea what Kangen water was until about a year ago. Kangen water has been around for decades, but has not become well-known and mainstream all around the world (yet). I’ve become so passionate about sharing this incredible product, but I know that it can be a lot to learn all at once.

I’ve compiled 4 frequently asked questions that I receive regarding Kangen water, and put them all in one place. I’ve seen firsthand just how powerful this water has been for me and hundreds more, so I’m excited to continue sharing this information.

Our bodies are made up of around 70% water. Our brains are made up of about 80% water. The very essence of our being is comprised of water. Then why don’t we give more thought into the quality of water that we are drinking? Not all water is created equal! We spend lots of money on organic produce, we read ingredient lists to ensure we consume the highest quality food we can, we exercise to stay healthy, but we don’t give a second thought to the water we consume on a daily basis.

Tap water is not as safe to drink as you think. Tap water is filled with contaminants and chemicals that lead to dangerous and costly diseases. According to a recent peer-reviewed study of nearly 50,000 community water systems in the United States, the Environmental Working Group (EWG) found that 22 carcinogens commonly found in tap water increase people’s risk of developing cancer. These contaminants include things like arsenic, byproducts of water disinfectants, and radionuclides such as uranium and radium.

Although most tap water meets legal standards set by the federal government, researchers found that contaminants present in tap water create a measurable risk for cancer. In other words, tap water that has high levels of cancer-causing contaminants will pass the US government’s test and continue to flow to homes all over the United States. This water is not clean and pure like we are made to think it is.

Let’s talk about the water pipes real quick. They are old, corroding, and leaking heavy metals into the water supply. It’s important to know what the condition of the pipes are like in your area. In a lot of cases, these pipes have not been replaced for decades and the water treatment chemicals only quicken corrosion. Some more interesting information on this here.

At this point in my life, I just don’t have a lot of trust in the government to closely monitor the water quality and put people before profit. If there is an option that gives me more control over my own health and well-being, rather than relying on the government or big corporations, I take it.

Just know this: we do not have to settle for the crap water that our government pushes on us. We have the power in our own hands to take control of our health and wellbeing. Period.

Bottled water companies would like us to think that bottled water is filtered and cleaner than tap water. However, this is simply not the case. Bottled water regulations are even looser than those in place for tap water. For all the points mentioned in the previous answer, we know that loose regulations regarding water quality is a no-go.

Let’s talk about the plastic bottle itself. Let’s say just for argument’s sake that the water poured into these bottles is pure and clean. By the time it gets to you, it’s not pure anymore. Multiple studies have found that a plastic bottle leaks chemicals into the water it contains, and the longer the water sits in the plastic bottle the more contaminated it gets. If the environment it is shipped in is hot, then it leaks even more contaminants. One study found that 93% of bottled water tested showed micro-plastic contamination.

Overall, bottled water is not the healthy answer we are looking for. Not to mention the horrific impact it has on our environment. I won’t go into that here though because you already know that. But seriously, why are people still buying plastic bottles of water?

Short answer: yes. As you read about Kangen water and Enagic (the company that manufactures the machines and pays out the distributors) you may think that it sounds too good to be true. That’s the exact thought I had when learning about it. The thing is, this water is backed up by a lot of science, and the compensation plan is epic and legitimate. Below are some links to medical studies and articles so you can begin your own research. Just remember that Kangen water is the brand name, and the water’s scientific name is Electrolyzed Reduced Water (ERW), so the studies will refer to ERW rather than Kangen, just as studies about sugar will not mention Domino.

There is SO much research out there showing the benefits of ERW, but to keep this blog post from being pages long, I’ll include only 5 here:

Drinking ERW after exercise is shown to hydrate the body more efficiently than regular water : here

“A significant difference in whole blood viscosity was detected in this study when assessing a high-pH, electrolyte water versus an acceptable standard purified water during the recovery phase following strenuous exercise-induced dehydration.”

Molecular Hydrogen as a new approach to prevent and treat cardiovascular diseases : here

“Studies have shown that H2 can treat many diseases associated with oxidative stress including cardiovascular disorders”

“The greatest advantages for using H2 are easy penetration through all biological membranes, wide spectrum of administration form, and little or no significant reported adverse effects. Thus H2 may represent a novel therapeutic strategy to mitigate oxidative stress and its pathological consequences.”

ERW increases the resistance to oxidative stress (aging) : here

“Our findings that ERW acted as a strong ROS scavenger and extended lifespan with increased resistance to oxidative stress and no reduction in fertility support the free radical theory of aging.”

Supplementation of Hydrogen-Rich Water Improves Lipid and Glucose Metabolism in Patients With Type 2 Diabetes or Impaired Glucose Tolerance: here

“Oxidative stress is recognized widely as being associated with various disorders including diabetes, hypertension, and atherosclerosis. It is well established that hydrogen has a reducing action. We therefore investigated the effects of hydrogen-rich water intake on lipid and glucose metabolism in patients with either type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) or impaired glucose tolerance (IGT)”

“…these results suggest that supplementation with hydrogen-rich water may have a beneficial role in prevention of T2DM and insulin resistance”

ERW helps with hangovers : here

“These results suggest that drinking ERW has an effect of alcohol detoxification by antioxidant mechanism and has potentiality for relief of ethanol-induced hangover symptoms.”

Again, these are only a few of the MANY research studies available to read through. There are studies that show the benefits of ERW related to cancer, digestive issues, diabetes, anxiety, and many many others. I encourage you to conduct your own research, and I’m happy to send you the other articles and information I have. If you are interested, please reach out!
